Ukraine and the United States have reached an agreement. A deal has been signed. The signed deal no longer resembles the stranglehold contract that Trump presented.

So, did Trump's strategy work, and is there now a deal that gives the US a disproportionately large advantage after all?

I don't think so. Yet, I can imagine that now the other countries that provided aid feel duped by Ukraine. After all, why grant that scoundrel Trump, who let you down, a deal and not your good allies who continued to help you?

Zelensky will have to explain that to them.

There's not much wrong with the deal itself. The setup is fifty-fifty, with any profits benefiting Ukraine for the first ten years. Furthermore, the deal concerns newly developed projects, and agreements have been made primarily about air defense systems that will be purchased.

So, in terms of the deal, it seems to have been well-negotiated by Ukraine.

What can be expected in the long term...

Frankly, that the deal isn't worth the paper it's signed on. It's a stunt with which Trump wants to show what a wonderful dealmaker he is, while it otherwise amounts to little or nothing. But if this is necessary to appease Trump, then you do it. Zelensky has understood that game well. You can appease Trump in two ways. You give him something that tickles his fancy, a picture, a painting of himself, or you grant him a deal that he thinks is a world deal.
